It will behave the way you're describing.Problem solved today. 1. remove maplight assembly from the van by removal four 8mm screw/bolt, diconnect the harnesses. 2. flip over the assembly and push the map light base out. 3. push out to disconnect the map light switch from both side. 4. clean the socket connection and apply some bulb grease coating to the tips.If you shine a very bright light on the screen and see that the screen is changing but you just can see it then the backlight failed and you need to figure out how to replace just the backlight or you will need to replace the entire screen. 2010 EXL 170K.
