My workflow: Zsphere Basemesh. Dynamesh and get basic forms right. Zremesh and start sculpting. Sculpt detail to about level 4. Decimate in Zbrush then retopo and unwrap in 3D Coat. Subdivide low poly in Zbrush and project high poly onto retopo mesh. Final fine details (pores etc) Export highest and lowest versions.

I got the i7 version with 16G. I downloaded zbrush 2022 and so far the performance is good. Naturally with the specs it gets a bit laggy around 10+ million polys. If you’re on performance mode the battery drains quite fast when working in Zbrush. I’d recommended to use a anti glare screen protector as it makes it a bit easier to do strokes. Having to manually activate and deactivate every time I want to use zBrush in my down time on my Surface at my day job just sounds exhausting. And quite frankly a bit petty. Best option will be blender’s sculpting tools. Regarding the whole Maxon situation.. I pretty much just started with ZBrush and bought ZBrush Core to get started. I would now love to upgrade to the full version, but just read about Maxon acquiring Pixologic and the fears of many regarding the possible death of the perpetual license and birth of a subscription only model.

Trying to edit custom UI but can't find Solo mode button to dock it. When looking at Zbrush core, one of my first thoughts was "Glad this wasn't out when I was getting ready to buy, because I might have gotten this version" Zbrush is amazing, gimped Zbrush is not and other tools can be used instead. That being said, if you do have the money for full Zbrush, I would get that. Best decision I've made. Other software may not have the exact same tools as Zbrush, but if you actually care, you WILL make the compromise to get your work done. Mudbox was abandoned by Autodesk, but is EXTREMELY affordable (something like $40). A lot of people suggesting Wacom and I completely disagree. You're paying a high price for a brand there.
