To me a real P228 is any pistol with a slide marked P228 that was manufactured or assembled in a SIG Sauer facility. Being a P220 Compact I believe it should still follow the P220 sequence. It should have a "G" prefix, and six digit number. In this case it has 7 digits, but no visible prefix.
