Depends on what you want, Arma 3 has a huge amount of mods and content, is a mil-sim game with a campaign, pvp multiplayer and pve multiplayer. DayZ is a survival game with player interactions and realistic (to some extend) take on gunplay, inventory management, hunger/thirst etc. Mods just became a thing so it's still very much behind on content.I have a PS5 and played Dayz on PS4 too and I can say this: It looks better, It loads quicker, the texture pop in are minimal and it's still broken as fuck. I would rather play on PS5 because at it looks visibly better but it's the same core console problems. I can't even imagine trying to play this game on a console.It's an unnecessary risk and time consuming. Not to mention you will be freezing the whole time unless your find the tools to make a fire. It's hard to find a good balance tbh :/ I don't mind the 1PP darkness personally, I like that it's so dark it encourages use of light sources, whereas the 3PP night is so bright that they feel useless and even NVG's aren't that much help.

In my opinion, Community servers are your best bet. I recommend finding such a server (respective to your region) that advertises active moderation, with certain limited QoL modifications to warm yourselves up to the base gameplay experience, you will typically find these called Vanilla Plus servers.

DayZ as an ARMA 2 mod got extremely popular despite a whole ton of barriers, it was buggy as shit, but the foundation it was laid upon with ARMA 2 was surprisingly decent for the mod wanted to be.
