Jan 26, 2022 · Reviewed January 26, 2022. We booked the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach hotel on our first trip to Hawaii. The resort is very large with several different towers. we received a tip to request the Rainbow Tower and our room faced Diamond Head. The view from the room was amazing. Looking at how the hotel does business and what they call “upgrades” on other amenities I would be reluctant to chance giving up an ocean view. They are for paying guests only. All beaches in Hawaii are public so your friends can hang with you at the beach, it's not connected to any hotel. We stayed for a week in Ali'i tower in connecting rooms (2 adults in one and 2 kids in the other). The rooms were very nice, well fitted-out, and comfortable. Bathrooms were huge, and balconies had a great view of Waikiki beach. Ali'i has its own private pool and bar where we spent a lot of our time, away from the hordes.
