Location: West Texas. There was a whole thread somewhere, was it shotgun world, about the 11-48 (the Sportsman 48 is the the 3 shot version of the 11-48 ) shucking the operating handle and how to fix it. It involved removing the bolt and punching a loose pin on the bottom of the bolt if I recall correctly. A little searching and I found this.
The attached pictures are of my Remington Sportsman 48, 12 guage, 2 3/4 or shorter shells. It is equipped with a Cutts/Lyman Adjustable Comp. Tube. The checkering appears to be in good shape except for one small scuff spot on the bottom of the fore arm.
