Ram 2500 stuck in 4th gear.

On a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, this morning was -4*c (24F) and when I started it up heading to work I noticed it was stuck in 4th gear. It's an automatic transmission. Couldn't raise or lower gears with the +/- buttons. Stopped at drive thru and cut off truck to hear (diesel ) when restarted motor and put into drive , showed transmission in 4th gear. cut engine off , waited a few minutes and restarted went back to drive all back to normal but engine light remains on.

It just stays in 4th gear. When stuck in 4th the tranny temp will reach upwards of 240 degrees. The only way to correct it is to pull over and turn truck off for 5-10 minutes and then restart it. Seems to be a computer control issue or something to that effect because all the parts inside the transmission are new.

I am not hard on the truck and changed the fluid and filters at 100k. It doesnt make any attempt to move in drive, but also doesnt make any noises. Also, putting the transmission in a particular gear using the selection doesnt make a difference. It feels as if the truck is in neutral. 2015 Ram 2500, 6.7, 68RFE, 4wd. The part cost $65. 1hr labor to install, $120. They are easy to repalce, but the mech there cautioned me that it has an adjustable mount and has to be adjusted correctly to operate properly. If you have a little time, I think you could repalce it yourself pretty easily, if that's the problem.
