If you mean the essence, dont farm it at all. make a mob grinder and you'll have more than you could ever use, and you need the mob drops.Basically, the higher tier farmland you plant inferium seeds on, the more essence you will yield. That works for inferium only.. For all other crops, when planted on any tier farmland, you will have a 10% to drop an additional seed. This chance goes up to 20% when planted on that crop's respective tier (found by hovering over the seed) farmland.
The tiers are just powers of 4 so they go 1, 4, 16, 64... but 64 = 1 stack, so instead of making the math harder by continuing to do 64 x 4 x 4 etc, just switch to 1 stack, 4 stack, 16 stack. That keeps the numbers low enough to do in your head and it's a lot easier to count 16 full stacks than it is to count that you have 1024 inferium.

With the harvester machine thing you don't so I would recommend getting the seeds like that and not wasting time with the autocrafting system. After that, harvesting the seed sometimes yields an extra seed, which can be uncrafted to give back the essence it's made of. If you want to utterly cheese mystical agriculture, four uncrafted inferium seeds produces enough essence to get your inferium seed to the next tier. Industrial Foregoing's Plant Gatherer breaks the crops when it harvests, rather than mimicking a right-click hoe harvest. This is fine with the tier 1 Inferium crops since they always drop seeds when they break, but for anything else it means that you lose the seeds each time the Plant Gatherer harvests them.
