You can make quick work of the Darklurker, and can do decent damage to all the Children of Dark, even on higher difficulties. 6 casts is more than enough as magic should almost always be supplemental to melee. Also it's not 30 sunlight medals that gets you sunlight spear, you have to turn in 10, to become Warrior of Sunlight +1, then you offer up Lord Gwyn's soul, and receive sunlight spear for it.
