Basic gunpowder is sulphur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate with sulphur being the most aromatic. There are strains that do have a chemically or fuelly kind of flavor. Sulphur is a different story. If it tastes like sulphur I would be inclined to think they had a pm issue and were using a sulphur burner to manage it. EDIT So it's really just the ocean smell/taste that's the problem. It doesn't sizzle on the nail, so I'm assuming it's not sulfur that's leftover in it. Sounds like an extraction was ran on unproperly finished buds.
