I concluded that the entire map consists of cave-like areas that teleport you to the host regardless of tether distance. This is likely to throw you into the element river which either results in instant death or a hazard chestpiece left with 1 durability.
ASA does not have that option. The only way to have no tether is to use a dedicated server on a PC. The ram requirements to have a fully active map are too great for any console. If you've got a spare PC with a decent amount of ram (8-16GB) you can run your own for 2 people, no problem.
