I recommend larva blade/spider fang, along with a shield. And for armor, go for ladybug or spider armor. Ladybug armor increases blocking power, and gives more damage reduction, but spider increases stamina and nearly the same defense. A small tip, cooked meat heals a lot, so if you can keep a stock you can heal really quick.
