In California costcos, Lagavulin 16 is about $80. Better yet, the Kirkland brand Islay Scotch has those same smooth yet peaty notes and is a screaming good deal at $35. I can afford higher yet I reach for this bottle a lot because sometimes you want to enjoy yourself without paying too much attention.
They only carry the basic basic items, like the tequilas, vodkas, small batch bourbon, the blended scotch, and the Kirkland 20 something scotches that no one buys. Add to that anything they do get is wickedly overpriced compared to other costcos. Georgia rarely gets these new items. Like GA JUST got Kirkland Islay scotch in 1 and only 1 store.Since I have the CS at home, decided to find out for myself. And with the regular 10 only being 43% and the Kirkland being 50%, I figured the CS (56.5%) was a better comparison as well. Disclaimer: This is my first ever “review”. It's also possible that the Kirkland's Speyside 25-year-old bottling is Mortlach, Longmorn or even Macallan, the latter of whom Kirkland has openly partnered with in the past. The Macallan's own 25 Year Old Sherry Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky sells for $1500.
