At the time - was a 24v system. 1st thing I did was replace the battery's - 2 brand new JD 12v's. Seemed to help for awhile - but not long and was back to not starting if sat for more than a few days.

If it's a side console tractor it can be in the PTO valve. 4-Plate on the bottom of the rockshaft housing is cracked or loose. 5-possibly an internal leak in the main pump, but not likely. 40/20vision. I have a 1966 4020 Powershift, lot of hours but fairly well taken care of. Shifts into reverse fine ---- when switching to forward it wants to miss. I have to shift back to reverse and then back to forward to get it to hit. Sometimes it will miss again, other times it picks right up like it should.

Member. Oct 12, 2023. #4. I had a couple broke off of my 4020 and I used JB weld on them. Make sure the surfaces are clean and I roughed them up with some really coarse sandpaper so that the JB weld had something to bite. I have had them on for 6 months and so far so good. C.

All cracked/popped adequately, however, 2 of the injectors test pattern was not real good if pressure was added slowly so I replaced them. This did not cure the miss. Then slide the outer quadrant back in and if possible, add an extra washer behind the snap ring to remove excess slop in quadrants. Rod #24 should not need adjustment if shifting was ok before the other rod broke. Most of the time it is extremely slow to raise the 3pt and cylinders (up to a couple minutes) , occasionally it will work fine. The steering and brakes seem to work ok.The check valve in the early 4020 was at the transmission pump and is prone to failure to cause loss of all hydraulics with the clutch pushed in on the SR tractors.
